These are the top five places to smoke weed in Jersey and probably not get caught, according to us here at Heady NJ. It’s a difficult balance between enjoying yourself and fear sometimes, especially if you are renting your home.
We previously covered more notable places to smoke weed that, while they provide great views are not quiet or discreet places to smoke weed or blaze.
While there definitely are a lot of places that don’t want you smoking there, you will not get arrested. It’s become like a minor parking ticket or like a speeding ticket with a large fine at the very worse depending on where you are.
In the future, the licensed New Jersey cannabis lounge will be the safest place to smoke. It will be interesting to see the different types of atmospheres that could be created from nightclubs and bars to places more like a quiet coffee shop. But we are not there yet.
They will be here eventually. It took from the New Jersey adult-use cannabis legalization implementation law being signed in February 2021 until this past spring 2024 to get a cannabis-infused brownie as well as chocolate edibles available for sale in legal New Jersey cannabis dispensaries.
So until we have cannabis lounges, here are the top five discreet places Heady NJ thinks are good to smoke:
Top 5 Most Discreet Places to Smoke Weed Jersey
1. At a Privately Owned Home
At a privately owned home when the owner is cool is the safest and most legal place to smoke weed in Jersey legally without fear of being hassled or pissing off a normie or normal, non-cannabis consuming person.
Unfortunately, landlords of rental properties have the legal right to tell you not to smoke inside. This is very bad for renters who might have to resort to all sorts of tricks to deal with the smell that so often leads to getting caught.
What could be a terrible odor to some is a great and beautiful aroma to others. It can also be hard to hide when you’re not very careful or don’t have the right tools.
So, while a homeowner could let you smoke weed inside, someone renting might allow you to smoke outside, and you could get away with it.
2. The Jersey Shore
Anywhere from Long Branch in Central Jersey to Atlantic City is great to find a space to blaze and enjoy the great Jersey Shore.
The less tourist dominated places without loud boardwalks full of bars and arcades places are more likely to be good places to blaze.
So, try to avoid Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Belmar in Monmouth County, Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights in Ocean Atlantic City in Atlantic County, and Wildwood and Cape May in Cape May County.
The United States government or the feds own Sandy Hook. So, federal prohibition might make it especially difficult if you’re caught.
But that still leaves plenty of great places where you can catch an ocean breeze and walk barefoot on the sand as you blaze.
After Labor Day, the beaches get a lot quieter and cheaper until next year’s Memorial Day. Then, it’s even easier to smoke weed on the beach.
When no one is around and annoyed, it can be a very peaceful experience.
3. A Forest
A forest is the best place to smoke weed since people won’t be around. The bigger it is, and the deeper you hike inside the forest, the better.
There are plenty of forests around Jersey that are great places to find a quiet place to smoke weed.
Getting good hiking boots and getting off the beaten trail is where you could be especially safe.
Nature can be very peaceful. Remember to bring at least one bottle of water. Bug spray is also good during the summer. Plus, you should wear long pants to avoid ticks and Lyme disease.
4. Underground Lounges
While rare, underground legacy lounges can provide a nice, warm, friendly place to blaze. They often hold markets and different events with live music or comedians.
Being underground, it is difficult to find them and see if they keep regular hours. However, event spaces and such places do exist around Jersey.
A couple might have closed, but a few are going strong.
Some places will do special nights where they allow people to consume cannabis freely. This includes some smoke shops where they might have an after-hours party. A few event spaces do pop-up parties too.
You have to look around to find them. Newark, Trenton, Paterson, and a few other places other places in Central and South Jersey are good places to find them usually.
Be careful since the cops can always shut it down.
5. A Car
Cars are a great place to smoke if it’s your car or the driver is cool with it. In theory, you can drive anywhere and smoke. Somewhere with few people outside is probably the best.
People shouldn’t complain if you smoke in your car. With a car, you can hotbox it by filling it with smoke so that you might get a contact high, which is different scientifically than smoking weed and directly inhaling the smoke.
But getting the smell of blunt or joint smoke out might be difficult. If there are a bunch of cops or narc lovers or normies around, you might have problems. Blunts and joints are rolled with a type of tobacco leaf or paper that then adds to the smell that can linger in the car.
But with a pipe, you shouldn’t have that problem.
