The legacy to legal micro craft cannabis grower Full Tilt Labs has entered the New Jersey adult-use market with new flower strains for sale.
Full Tilt Labs co-owner Salvatore “Sammy” Piazza said some of the places their flower can be found are:
- Baked by the River in Lambertville.
- Moja Life in Trenton.
- Earth & Ivy in New Brunswick.
- Jersey Meds in Penington.
- Honey Grove dispensary in Gloucester Township.
- Daylite in Mount Laurel.
- Nirvana in Mount Laurel.
- The Social Leaf in South Tom’s River.
- Scarlet Reserve Room in Englishtown.
- Aunt Mary’s in Flemington.
- Jersey Roots in West Milford.
- Shore House in Cape May.
- Garfield Gardens in Garfield.
“We don’t need to be in every single dispensary. We choose the people we work with,” Piazza declared.
Many recently opened independent dispensaries want to sell craft cannabis. But there has never been anywhere near enough quality, affordable, legal cannabis flower for sale in New Jersey dispensaries.
Underground Legacy to Legal Company Gets to NJ Cannabis Market
Full Tilt Labs is very proud to be an underground legacy to legal operator with a micro cultivation license.
“We’ve been growing for years,” Piazza declared.
His partner, Andres Plumacher, has been growing since the early 2000s.
“Dres taught me everything I know,” Piazza noted.
Full Tilt Labs is working on bringing the legendary underground cannabis strain Sour Diesel to the market along with many others.
“This summer is going to be the summer of Sour,” he exclaimed.
Piazza is in favor of cannabis home grow legalization, a severe crime, which he said the large corporate Multi-State Operators (MSOs) are opposed to and have successfully blocked.
It’s an argument made by many prominent New Jersey cannabis legalization advocates as well.
“I’ve grown in Jersey for the past 10 years,” he declared.
“We’re all about the vibes over here,” Piazza added.
Growing Independent New Jersey Craft Cannabis
Full Tilt Labs is one of the very first independent New Jersey cannabis growers or cultivators to say they grow craft cannabis.
“The best weed in New Jersey will come out of this building,” Piazza declared. “I’m sure plenty of consumers will vouch for that.”
It’s not only the size but the technique as well that makes it craft cannabis.
Full Tilt Labs grows in soil, according to Piazza.
“We grow with pure organic inputs,” he explained.
Most legal cannabis is not grown organically.
“We don’t remediate any weed. What we do is top-notch,” Piazza added.
Piazza said they have 2 flower rooms with 1200 square feet of canopy for 2400 square feet total.
Full Tilt Labs decided to grow 10 flower strains first, with more launching soon.
“We literally grow (about) 36 plants of each strain. That’s craft. We’re able to touch every single plant every single day,” he explained. Craft cannabis is people like us. We just let the weed speak for itself.”
Piazza called their facility state of the art.
“Flower Room 1 is sold out. We won’t have them again until September,” he noted.
Piazza does not mind being a micro license holder.
“We’re truly Small Batch,” he exclaimed.
He was not interested in converting his micro license to a larger one. Full Tilt Labs is especially rare in this respect.
“This is how our quality stays… by not biting off more than we could chew,” Piazza said.
Legal Cannabis Flower Experimenting
“We’re constantly bringing new stuff we always wanted to try,” he explained. “Now we don’t have to look over our shoulder.”
Piazza said they had an OG Sour D cannabis strain from 2021 they’re working on.
“This strain has been through hell and back,” he declared.
He thinks they are one of the only companies with a tissue culture lab on site.
Piazza said they can take a small stem of a plant and rejuvenate it. This is in contrast to the process of plant cloning where clones are taken off the main plant. He noted the plant loses its vigor if that is done often.
Piazza said they were able to make it as strong as how it once was. They were able to do so via a special mix blend of hormones and vitamins.
He explained that they take a noble shoot off a tiny plant and dissect it under a microscope. Then they clean it up, fix it, and watch it root and grow. If it turns ugly colors that means it was contaminated and needs to be thrown away.
So Piazza said they can make it basically the same as when the plant seed was first planted.
For example, they are working on a Pineapple Express strain, like from the movie.
Justifying the Price
He admitted Full Tilt Labs flower is not low-priced.
“We’re definitely the most expensive in Jersey because what we offer is the best quality,” Piazza argued.
“I take no hard feelings at all if people are like, ‘it’s expensive,” he explained.
Piazza was critical of the cannabis flower grown by large corporate MSOs. He said his flower is of a much better quality.
“Mine is leaps and bounds better,” he argued. “Until these people drop their prices, I’m pricing my weed accordingly.”
“The state hasn’t caught up yet,” Piazza added.
“If you try our stuff, you’re going to see it’s definitely worth it,” he declared.
Piazza said some people will pay for the best quality, like fine wine.
“There’s a market for everybody,” he argued.
Full Tilt Labs Open for Business in Ewing
In addition to cultivation, Full Tilt Labs also holds a manufacturing license. So, they are also working on debuting Gorilla Butter strain concentrates that are good for smoking with electronic devices like battery vape pens and dab rigs.
Salvatore Piazza of Full Tilt Labs got their first stage conditional licenses from the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJCRC) in June 2022. Then it was awarded the annual micro cultivation and manufacturing licenses needed to open by the NJCRC in January 2023.
Full Tilt Labs was approved to operate in Ewing outside Trenton in Central Jersey, along with dispensaries like Tahir Johnson’s Simply Pure dispensary, among others.
“I was born in this town, went to every school in this town. It’s really nice to be doing here back at home,” Piazza said.
He explained they’re completely family-owned and operated. They launched the business with no outside investors besides family.
Piazza owned a landscaping business specializing in snow removal and worked with Amazon fulfillment centers to get rid of their snow. He said he is growing on family property they had owned.
However, “we ain’t got billions of dollars,” Piazza noted.
The three main owners are Piazza, Andres Plumacher, and his brother Juan Plumacher.
“What we stand for is a bit different,” he added.
Plumacher noted it has been difficult to open.
“We’re finally here doing it. But it took a lot,” he said.
